1. WHO WE ARE

National Contractor Index (“NCI”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website nationalcontractorindex.com — a public registry of licensed trade contractors sourced from state licensing board records. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our website and services.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Information you provide directly

  • Account registration: Name, email address, password, phone number, and company role when you create an account to claim or manage a contractor listing.
  • Listing information: Business name, contact details, website URL, company logo, bid capabilities, service area, and project types that you add to your contractor profile.
  • Payment information: When you purchase a Verified listing subscription, payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your credit card number or payment details on our servers. Stripe’s privacy policy governs how your payment data is handled.
  • Communications: Any messages you send us through contact forms or email.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: Pages visited, search queries, time on site, and referring URLs — collected via analytics tools to improve the service.
  • Device and browser information: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device type.
  • Cookies: We use cookies for session management, analytics, and to remember your preferences. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not function correctly.

Public licensing data

Contractor profiles on NCI are populated from publicly available state licensing board records. This data is public information. If you are a licensed contractor and wish to update or remove information associated with your license, please contact us or update your records directly with your state licensing agency.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. STRIPE PAYMENT PROCESSING

Subscription payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you purchase a Verified listing, you will be directed through Stripe’s secure checkout. Stripe collects and processes your payment information in accordance with their own Privacy Policy, available at stripe.com/privacy. NCI does not store credit card numbers or full payment details.

5. DATA RETENTION

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you cancel your subscription and delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or accounting purposes.

Contractor profile data sourced from public licensing records may remain on the site even after account deletion, as it constitutes public information. If you are a licensed contractor and wish to have your public record listing removed from NCI, contact us at the email below.
